Introducing... Sarah

SarahHi, I have been working in the Early Childhood sector for over 20 years. I hold a Diploma of Teaching ECE, Full Teachers Registration, New Zealand Nanny Certificate, First Aid Certificate and am currently working towards a Degree in ECE and a Graduate Certificate in Management. I have three children - Joshua, Lilly and Miah.

I have a passion for teaching children, challenging and giving them time to learn and gain independence. I am very approachable and am here to support families and children to feel a sense of belonging at Earlybirds.

Welcome to the Kea Centre

At the Kea Centre we will support and encourage your child to develop their independence, and learn skills that we as teachers believe are important for four-year-olds to learn. We have set some goals which we feel are important for children to lear before they turn five.

  1. Be independent and able to do things for themselves.
  2. Be able to dress and undress themselves and put their belongings away.
  3. Be aware of self-help skills - in eating, drinking, toileting, resting, washing, etc.
  4. An ability to determine their own actions and make their own choices.
  5. Be able to count 1-10 both forwards and backwards.
  6. Be able to identify the letters of their name and write their name, holding a pencil correctly.
  7. Be able to communicate - their feelings, thoughts, ideas, hold a conversation with their peers and adults and be able to ask questions and make discoveries.
  8. Be able to share and take turns with others.
  9. Have an understanding of their own special skills and that they are valued for their individualism.
  10. Understand that experimentation, exploration, and curiosity are important ways to learn and make discoveries.
